Vietnam Top Gear tour day 8 - Mai Chau homestay
A bigger post this time but it was a big night so it deserves it.
Many families in the village of Mai Chau have converted their homes to homestays to supplement the village income. We stayed at one of these and it was a night to remember.
We got to experience some beautiful Thai dancing, lots and lots of rice wine and even some "traditional" Macarena dancing. I'm not sure how ancient it is but everyone had an amazing time.
Some of the singles in the group bunked down in a shared dorm for the night and, needless to say, chaos and mischief ensued. Especially after the aforementioned rice wine, followed by drunken swimming and more dancing.
In the morning I was glad for the serenity of the village so went for a bit of a walk to explore. They have their own rice paddies, fish breeding ponds and fields to grow produce so the village is heavily self-sufficient. Much like much of Vietnam.
